#9 Alexander Street:

#9 Alexander Street had been said to be either a portion of a building moved from Harley c1885, by the Gidney brothers or possibly a portion of another building which had been moved from Mt. Vernon in the early 1890’s by the Chas. Wooden building moving company. After further research I have discovered some details that point more towards the latter, rather than the former. When the Wooden moving company moved a large hotel building from Mt. Vernon to Burford in the early 1890's it was so large that it had to be brought in two parts - , and the second part was taken over to a field that was located just south of King Street, that was owned by the Robertson / Wooden family, where it was temporarily set on blocks to await being moved to a new residential property, #9 Alexander.
